A few days before I met up with Carson and his family I was brainstorming for his session. I knew I wanted to style the photos with props but I wasn't sure what theme to go with yet. Then I heard that Carson's parents had thrown him a circus-themed birthday party just a few weeks before. Bingo!!! Right then I knew I had to create a little circus tent for his pictures! My husband (isn't he such a great guy???) and I got to work on constructing the tent, and we were incredibly excited of the end result! So on the day of the shoot we happily loaded it into the car and off we went to the park.
Well....things didn't go exactly as we planned. See, we live in this state called Kansas...and you know what Kansas is known for? WIND! And corn, wheat, The Wizard of Oz, and more WIND! Anyways, we get to the park and set up the tent in a gorgeous spot that I had picked out several days before, when a gust of wind knocked a bunch of the decorations off. Ugh. My husband and I ran around gathering up all of the pieces and tried to put the tent back together. Which we did...just in time for ANOTHER gust to hit the tent and tear it apart. So I knew my perfect, awesome location with the most amazing lighting EVER was not going to work and I would have to find another one, and quick! I only had about 10 minutes before Carson and his family were supposed to show up. Long story short, after running around like mad I finally found a circus-tent suitable area and we were able to set up the whole scene exactly on time.This is largely due to the fact that my hubby is made of awesome. :)
After they arrived and we started the session, I knew it was going to be great. Carson had the BEST attitude! He had a great time playing with all of the balloons!
Near disaster aside, I walked away from this session with a huge smile on my face because I had so much fun...and judging by the look on Carson's face I think it's safe to say he did too!
